Weekend in Review

This past weekend was a lot of fun and last night I was glad to be able to fall asleep in the chair with Ava while watching the Grammys. Emily tried to stay awake for Taylor Swift but was out before nine.

Saturday we decided to go to the Children's Museum. Actually Emily decided to go and we said we would like to join her. Joanna, Brent, and Keaton met us there.

Sunday we went to The Lodge to celebrate Matt's birthday again. I think he is still a little miffed that I did not make him a cherry chip cake this year. Don't worry though, we managed to get a picture with an equally feminine dessert.

Sunday evening I decided to get creative and make gluten free vegan macaroni and cheese . The vegan part is because I no longer eat dairy, the gluten free part was just for shits and giggles.  Actually, I switched over to brown rice noodles awhile ago and we all prefer them.  Anyway, it was a hit. Matt even went back for seconds. Ava also had her first avocado last night. I am thrilled to report that she happily ate almost the entire thing. And by ate I mean smashed it to her tray and licked it off her hands. She was also a fan of the mac and cheese.

Today's agenda includes doing some cleaning so I can watch Hoarders tonight without any guilt.

* Edited to add:  Matt just reminded me that I forgot to mention the unfortunate incident involving our favorite white dog. We had to rent a Rug Doctor to clean up what I like to call a Sophie shit storm.  Apparently, in the middle of the night she got uncontrollable diarrhea. Instead of waking us up she just decided to go to the basement. Good times….

Eww Gross, I could have done without the "edited to add" section. Sounds like, aside from that, you had a great time. You guys should come up to Chicago and go to the Children's museum on Navy Pier. We could stay all day there.

We also had doggie diarrhea here Saturday. But she made outside each time, every 30-60mins.
