I decided to give cloth diapers a shot. Why? I don't know… just to be different and one of those moms. Truthfully, I think they are stinkin' cute and love all the designs you can get them in. They seem much softer and natural than their plastic feeling counterparts. And I won't have Elmo or the Cookie Monster staring at me every time I change a diaper.
Supposedly I will save money, but the initial investment stings a little. I ordered four diapers- 3 organic all in ones( just what they are called, everything is sewn together) and one pocket diaper- which I have yet to figure out how to work. I want to see if I will actually stick to it before ordering enough to cloth diaper full time.
Now, I just need to figure out what to do if she, you know, goes to the bathroom in one…..

I don't know what brand you are using, but one of my friend's cousin is a big believer in Smarti Pants. https://www.smartipants.com/
James and I are actually looking at doing those when we have a child.
Thanks for the link Amanda, I will check it out.
Mom- I am going to order some old school diapers.. the ones that you have to pin and use a cover. I may need a tutorial...
I used flannel diapers with pins - Ken's Mom 'made' them for me for each of the kids. I remember having what seemed like half a cloths line full of diapers & folding & folding. The pre-folded was the 'new' thing back then, but more expensive. Good luck, I bet you'll like them.
In days of your.....like when YOUR mother was an infant.....cloth diapers were lined with a soft paper like thing called a diaper liner. One simply collected the 'nasty (as your mother called it) which is cuddled in the liner and flushed liner and all away leaving a lovely cloth diaper to be easily changed and laundered. You do not mention an investment in a diaper pail or such????

Grandma- I bought a waterproof laundry bag to put them in for now. If I decide to do this full time I will buy a pail.
To get the full cloth diaper experience, will you be toting around a wet washcloth in a baggie instead of wipes? What do you do with a soiled diaper when you change her in a public place? Do you carry the poopy around with you until you get home?
