I really do find it amusing that Matt enjoys a varied assortment of holiday paper. The fake laugh…. that is an added bonus.

The Times, They are a Changing
So we finally caved and gave Emily a cell phone. She is paying part of the bill and has to keep track of the thing. I thought it was going well until I received the following text:
Is ava awake? Wat r we doin fur new years cuz emily was wonderin if she could come over cuz otherwise she would have to go to her grandmas and not celebrate
Let's discuss, shall we? Tell me where I am wrong, but since when does owning a cell phone and having the ability to text make it okay to write like you have not had one day of formal education. I can excuse minor grammatical errors, heck, I make them all the time. Even shorthand would be okay. But "wat" and "cuz" are not going to fly in this house.
So our conversation is going to go a little something like this, "Emily, when you text me and spell like a moron the answer will be no." Always. Too harsh?

Bribery
The only way I got Emily to wear these pajamas and smile was to tell her that if she wanted to open her presents she would wear the matching pj's and act like they were the most awesome pajamas of all time. I will still be bribing her when Ava is 10 and she is 20.

Party Ready
The carpets are vacuumed, the dogs are off to the kennel, the food is prepared, and the wine was chilling. Until I caught my nemesis, Vern, prematurely dipping into the Lambrusco. Which, by the way, is only appropriate to drink around the Holidays. Christmas isn't Christmas without a glass of chilled Lambrusco. Apparently, Vern agrees.

Cousins
Keaton spent the night last night so that Brent could stay with Joanna for what is hopefully Cooper's last night in the NICU. Otherwise, he might win the award for the healthiest newborn in the NICU, if such an award exists. I am hoping that they will be on their way home today.

Writer's Block
Add in a stomach virus or two, a teething toddler, and a Chihuahua that hates to go potty outside when the temp dips below forty degrees and, well, you have yourself a f*#$%^ party. Oh there it is, my fave word. Sorry mom.
I am off this morning to go to Sam's Club for pulled pork and Italian beef. I also still do not have a Christmas sweater or white elephant gifts. No worries on that though, finding inappropriate Christmas gifts is something I excel at. Shocking, I know.

Cooper
My nephew, Cooper, was born on Friday, December 10. He was, at 36 weeks gestation, considered late pre-term. He weighed in at 6 pounds 6 ounces and is 19 inches long. He had some struggles with his breathing in first hours of life landing him a bed in the NICU. The team there fixed him up and he is doing fabulous. He is nursing like a champ, and should be able to go home soon. Welcome to the world baby Cooper!

The Scoop
Ava is still ill. She is acting fine, but has had horrendous diarrhea- bad enough for me to use disposable diapers until this resolves. She woke up and puked on me in the middle of the night. I feel so bad for her. We are spending lots of time cuddling in the chair watching Ses.
My sister had her cerclage removed this morning. There were no complications and my nephew will arrive within the next few days to weeks. Our entire family is awaiting his safe arrival.
That's all for now. Back to watching more Ses and "Narney".

Tidbits
I know my blogging has been lacking to say the least. I just don't have much to say. Maybe it is the time of year. Maybe it is that I am busy. Maybe it is my general displeasure of (TMI) getting my period for the first time in over two years. Maybe it is the vomit fest, courtesy of Ava, that has been going on here.
I am starting to prepare my home for hosting Christmas with my extended family. I still don't have my ugly Christmas sweater. I keep getting outbid on Ebay. I refuse to pay $40 for a hideous sweater. I am going to try Goodwill and see what I can come up with.
I am handing Ava pieces of tape as I type this. She is amusing herself by covering her legs in tape…
I am off to do laundry, I have several " puke loads" to wash on sanitize cycle, sigh…..

Chair Jumper
Ava provided the entertainment at Thanksgiving. She jumped off this chair 462 times before it got old.

Cup of Cheer
We got the tree up and decorated. And I didn't need vodka to get through it. In the Kruse house we call that progress.
