I know… insert eye roll here. I just can't help myself. Yesterday, Matt and Emily participated in the Quad Cities Marathon. Matt ran the full marathon(26.2 miles) and Emily ran the 5k(3.1 miles).
Matt ran his fastest marathon yet, completing it in three hours and fifty five minutes. It was cold and rainy and he ran through a few downpours. I am so relieved that he met his goal of getting under four hours.
Emily placed first in the 14 and under females. She beat out 37 other girls! So, so proud of her.
A lot of our friends participated in the Marathon, either in the 5K, half Marathon, or the relay. I wish the weather would have cooperated, but we had fun regardless.
I am still plugging away at my 5k plan. I should be running for 20 minutes without walking by the end of this week. Frightening…
I was thinking of something to post about Ava, I don't want to leave her out. Let's see, she said the "S" word this past week. Granted, she said it right after I did, but I was impressed with the number of times she said it in a row(about 15), and it was very clear. No guessing what she was saying. I just ignored it and am hoping she forgets the word entirely. If not, just sign me up for mother of the year award.
